Terms of Use
These terms apply when you use webcounter.co.za, create an account, or put a WebCounter counter on a website. By doing so you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
The service
- WebCounter is a free visitor counter and report for websites.
- Bot filtering is a best effort. We filter crawlers, scrapers and automated browsers, but a determined bot imitating a real browser can get through, and some real visitors may not be counted. Counts are estimates, not audited figures.
- We may change, add or remove features, or stop the service, and will try to give reasonable notice of anything significant.
Your account
- Give a valid email address and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Only add websites you own or are allowed to manage.
- You may close your account at any time by contacting us.
Using the counter on your site
- You are responsible for telling your visitors that your site uses WebCounter, for example in your own privacy policy. You may link to our Privacy Policy for the detail.
- The free counter may show a small "Sponsored by" line. You may switch it off in the widget settings.
- Do not tamper with the counter, inflate counts, or use the service to send automated or fake traffic.
Acceptable use
Do not use WebCounter on sites that are unlawful, that distribute malware, or that infringe other people's rights, and do not try to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to the service. We may suspend or remove sites and accounts that break these terms.
Your data and ours
- The statistics for your site are yours. We process them on your behalf as described in the Privacy Policy.
- The WebCounter name, logo, counter designs and software remain ours. You may use the counter as provided, but not copy or resell the service.
No warranty
The service is free and provided "as is". We do our best to keep it running and accurate, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that counts will be exact.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, WebCounter is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, income or business, arising from use of the free service. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under South African law that cannot be limited, including under the Consumer Protection Act where it applies.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
